Whether photography, silver jewelry, stained glass, watercolor, or colored pencil sits atop your list of favorite meda, come explore the three UW-Madison Continuing Studies art galleries on the seventh floor at 21 N. Park St.
The public is welcome to view and study the art work displayed in these spaces during office hours, and artists can apply to show their work.
For the next two months, whimsical assemblages of found objects by Nancy Welch are on display. This former Continuing Studies instructor says she enjoys mining the landfill for objects like funnels, washers, and wrenches, from which she creates her surprising and humorous compositions.
The second artist featured this fall is Joan Walker, who creates brightly colored watercolors expressing her fascination with cave art and early pottery.
UW-Madison Continuing Studies established these galleries to provide a way for artists to display their work in a public education environment. The galleries are one of many reflections of Continuing Studies’ mission: to connect community to campus.
Artists include employees and their family members, instructors, students, and other friends of Continuing Studies. Artists are encouraged to apply; exhibits are scheduled through March 2013.
