Ready to write a novel this weekend? online? with others?

Join the ‘Makerthon’ digital novel-writing extravaganza!

Ever wanted to try your hand at digital writing? Do you have a hankering to collaborate wildly, madly, crazily on what we’re calling a “virtual flash mob?” Looking to spice up your Nov. 15-17 weekend? Then join the Makerthon digital novel-writing extravaganza! Beginning 11:59 pm EST on Nov. 15 and ending 11:59 pm EST on Nov. 17, the Digital Writing Makerthon is a lunatic ride through the digital world, hell-bent on producing a collaborative story 50,000 words long in just 48 hours. But this isn’t just any story, and these aren’t just any “words!” You’re invited to contribute video, digital comics, audio, music, tweets—anything that can be produced digitally—as well as text!

To learn more about this free event, follow #readmake on Twitter.

And don’t worry: You don’t have to be an expert writer or coder or YouTube video maker. It’s not about getting it “right”; it’s about getting it done. Nor do you have to commit 48 whole hours. Tune in for a few minutes here … an hour or two there … and lurkers are welcome!

UW-Madison’s Division of Continuing Studies is embarking upon a grand experiment. Join us and hundreds of other writers for a one-of-a-kind, first-of-its-kind writing, crafting, creating marathon!
