“Summers are magical in Madison,” wrote Hannah Fricke in the Badger Herald.

Fricke was describing the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Summer Term, which offers accelerated courses ranging from three to eight weeks. Taking a Summer Term class can help students prepare for a career, advance their academic pursuits, and stay on track for graduation.

As Fricke pointed out, “Studying isn’t too awful when you get to hang out on the Terrace or sunbathe on Bascom Hill at the same time.”

In The Weekly, journalism major Logan Reigstad explained the academic benefits of enrolling in Summer Term:

“Taking a course during the summer allowed me to focus my energy on a single class and freed up opportunities during the academic year.”

The Badger Herald, The Daily Cardinal, and Wisconsin Public Radio covered the big news for Summer Term 2016: an increase in scholarships from $25,000 to $250,000.

“We could see a tenfold increase in the number of students who get aid this summer,” Jeffrey S. Russell told Wisconsin Public Radio. Russell is the dean of UW-Madison’s Continuing Studies.

Flexibility and convenience

The Daily Cardinal noted Summer Term’s increase in online courses, which offer flexibility and convenience:

“By adding more online courses for the summer term, administrators say they hope to make these classes more accessible to students who are not in Madison for the summer or have busy schedules.”

Enrollment for Summer Term opens March 28. Check here to learn more about courses, programs, fees, housing options and summer jobs.

As Fricke concluded in the Badger Herald: “Coupled with the beautiful weather Wisconsin and the promise of a pitcher on the Terrace in the evening, summer classes can be downright outstanding.”
